2013年6月13日 · While the war officially ended in April of 1975. We were not sending new personnel and or equipment to Vietnam in the last few years of the war. Most equipment that has genuine provenance and can be accurately dated will have 1960 s dates attached to them. The knives that fall into the Vietnam era category tend to go for a premium in asking price.

2007年4月14日 · All I can say for sure is that it is not an "Official" contract knife. Official contract knives during the Viet Nam war were made by Camillus and Conetta. Beyond that I know Kiffe and Gutman had Mark 2 type knives cataloged and they were manufactured in Japan during the Vietnam war. See the ad for Gutman which appeared in 1968:

2003年3月2日 · I am a vet from Iraq and Afghanistan, and just so the Vietnam vets know, I spent 4 years doing POW/MIA Search and Recovery in Vietnam from 1992-1996 with the Central Identification Lab out of Hawaii. I have always thought about what the guys would have carried to Vietnam back then.

2020年5月21日 · The problem is that most of the Infantry would have had bayonets which goes against the perceived common use of the Mk2. Some weapons couldn't mount a bayonet but this would have been the exception, not the rule. Out of 13 Marines in a rifle squad only three of them carried automatic rifles, everyone else should have had a bayonet.

2008年8月26日 · Looking at the Spanish-American War Collins one can certainly see elements from it in the WW2 bowies, and then the W49. The W49 is much closer to the V44 No 18 knife than to the Spanish American War knife. I would claim the V44 was the inspiration for the W49, given that an earlier version has not been found yet.
