Help finding best non prescription food for CKD cat
May 31, 2018 · Some formulas have changed. The best answer to your question is “a food your cat will eat.”. My cat Twyla will never eat enough wet food to meet her caloric needs so I supplement with a dry food. She ate prescription dry for awhile but started not liking it so she now gets Hill’s 11+ dry (not the indoor version).

But it is also prescription and you can only get it with a script from a vet, which is one reason it is so expensive. In the case of my cat I only used it for a month, until the bag ran out. My vet said it was all that he would need, enough to clear out any crystals.

Hydration is a must too, I set several little bowls of water around the house, and they always check them out and it encourages them to drink. Maybe ghet several brands and kinds of renal diet food to give yoru cat variety, and to see what they like. All the luck!

I haven't used it, but unfortunately, I would guess the ingredients are probably not that much different than Royal Canin SO or Hills C/D. I have also heard about Wysong Uretic cat food - in both canned and dry.

Jun 30, 2015 · So basically, I had to bribe him by mixing in cat tuna or topping it with bonito fish flakes to get him to eat it. He also lost about 2.5 pounds. Turns out he was about 2lb overweight anyway. Once I finally got him to eat the wet food consistently, I decreased the amount of tuna each time until now he eats the food straight up.
