Jun 16, 2021 · Firstly, you've written that the XPS 9510 / 9710 laptops have an "XMP-ready BIOS", and that this XMP-ready BIOS is not the cause of the RAM problems. However I don't believe this is true. These laptops do not support XMP at all.

Jul 7, 2023 · Following another guide from the Dell forums I found that using the Dell_Inspiron string instead of Dell_XPS somehow fixed the issue. This worked for me: REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Store" /v StoreContentModifier /f /t REG_SZ /d Dell_Inspiron. PS: verified on an XPS 15 9520

Jul 22, 2021 · With regards to size, the 15 feels significantly smaller and lighter than the 17 but I say that as somebody who runs an M1 MacBook Pro 13 (sub 3 pounds) and the XPS 15 9500... the XPS 17 is around 30% heavier than the 15 (around 6 pounds vs 4.5, depending on config).

Aug 30, 2021 · However as I tend to keep each XPS 15 for about 3 years burn in of something like the windows task bar does concern me. Sorry don't have the link, but checkout Hardware Canucks video on the Dell 9310 (oled version), he gets a response from Dell about burn-in. Essentially there are software measures in place to prevent burn in.

Dec 23, 2021 · XPS 15 9510 did not come with a heatshink for the 2nd SSD, you can buy it on Amazon (seriously Dell? held out on us for $25?). XPS 17 came with both during normal usage, the fans should not run at all (at least not for me). unless there is a big spike in cpu usage, use task manager to check for the culprit

Jul 8, 2021 · Hey! I am interested in getting the XPS 9510 and only the mediocre thermals keep me hesitating . I don't need extra performance (9500 level would be sufficient for me) as long I can make it run about 10°C cooler than normal, to improve noise and lifespan. So I don't need overclocking, just undervolting. How good are my chances?
