If there isn't any, the pipe will still freeze. 3/4" pex is about the same ID as 1/2" copper, so yes, I'd run 3/4" pex to the bathroom group. The tub, I'd convert 3/4" to the likely 1/2" valve you have.

Jul 31, 2008 · PEX fittings cannot be used with polybutylene. There is a transition coupling that has both a PB and PEX end as well as two different crimp rings. Again, the wall thickness of the PEX crimp is heavier, and the thinner version of the copper ring is for PB.

My gas line is jumpered to the old water line which connects to an old drain line and finally the panel. Service is 200 amp and has a couple groundiing electrodes outside.

Jan 27, 2009 · I ran copper to a set of valves and used sharkbites to connect the pex. A nice sweep into the wall up about 20" to a copper 90 and out to the sink shutoffs. I put insulation between the outside wall and the pex. I figured PEX would hold up to freezing better than copper, since the pex will flex and the copper won't.

Dec 27, 2024 · The best way to keep the PEX at room temperature is to install it flush against the backside of the interior wall covering (use some straps to keep it centered in the stud bay to reduce the risk of penetrating when hanging wallboard). All insulation is between the pex and the foundation, no insulation between the PEX and the room.
