Residents are taking safety into their own hands, and local leaders are working to shelter homeless individuals during the extreme weather combo.

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Tornado Watch for Liberty County and six additional counties in southeast Texas. The watch remains in effect until 6 p.m.
